No Spoilers
When I started watching the Kaos Brief I immediately needed to check to see if I was watching the movie or if I was still on YouTube. The introduction of the movie is what one might call click baity however this is not YouTube, but another found footage flick so let’s see what it ‘s about.
An extremely photogenic dude, and the connotations that implies lol, appears on the screen in a few different guises giving us quick introduction to himself and his vlog. As the kind of goofy narration continues our narrator gets a little too excited and we can hear a female voice yelling “come on”, or “shut up”, doesn’t really matter. I thought it was maybe the cliché girlfriend but it was the more cliché sister. If you have an issue with mixed racial couples or if homosexuality bothers you, I need you to do 2 things. Don’t watch this movie, and please give yourself a Darwin award.
We have a group of friends, a brother and sister fraternal twin pair, and their significant others. Everything starts off innocuously enough as it always does. We get some mild introduction to our characters and what might be considered social commentary and then some gratuitous b-roll as our crew heads on their road trip into the mountains for some weekend camping.
Now in the interest of keeping my reviews of the no spoiler variety I don’t want to go into any further details of the story. The story is another ufo/alien abduction type with a lot of the tropes. Triangular lights in the sky, implants under skin, the men in black however I found the story to be very entertaining. I’ve seen a few of the ufo/alien found footage stories and I really enjoyed this one because it attempts to show us regular people in extraordinary circumstances. Sure it’s easy to say it’s all a load of crap and sure it might be difficult to suspend belief when watching films on this subject, but it’s still entertaining to watch. I’m sure it doesn’t help that I personally like stories about ufo’s so I might be a bit biased.
Make sure to watch all the way through to the end as the credits roll. We might not get all the answers we were hoping for, but I suspect there might be some viral marketing around this film and I’m led to believe if I do a little more online searching I might find some of the answers I’m looking for, but who has time for that.
On to the next movie 😉
